We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Steel Estimator to join our team.
This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to play a central role in our construction projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for our industrial and commercial steel construction projects.
This includes analyzing blueprints, assessing material requirements, and forecasting the cost of labor and equipment.
The Chief Steel Estimator will also lead the bidding process, ensuring that we submit competitive and accurate bids to our clients.
This role is integral to our success, and we offer a competitive salary package and a supportive work environment.
Responsibilities:
1.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
2.
Prepare detailed cost estimates by breaking down the items of work necessary to implement the project.
3.
Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
4.
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
5.
Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
6.
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
7.
Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
8.
Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
9.
Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
1.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
2.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in steel estimating in the industrial and commercial construction industry.
3.
Proficiency in Bluebeam and other estimating software.
4.
Strong understanding of steel construction processes and techniques.
5.
Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities.
6.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
7.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
8.
Strong knowledge of the bidding process and experience in preparing competitive bids.
9.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
10.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
11.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
